After much speculation about the pricing of Microsoft’s new motion controlled Kinect device and another 360 S model, Microsoft have confirmed pricing and specifications for both. We WILL be seeing a cheaper 360 S model featuring 4GB of storage, seemingly aimed at the family market alongside the Kinect. This will set you back £149.99 as a standalone console, which is very reasonable.
Now for the bad news, the Kinect has been priced up at an RRP of £129.99 which includes a copy of Kinect Adventures thrown in. This is around the price that we expected, but it could still be a bit steep for some people seeing as it’s only £20 short of the price for the new 360 S 4GB. You can however get the new 4GB 360 S bundled with the Kinect for £249.99 – meaning you get a saving of around £30 compared to buying them both separately.
The Kinect doesn’t yet have a specified UK release date, whereas the 4GB 360 S is due for release on 20th August. Both can be pre-ordered now from the usual places. Another thing to point out is that both Asda and Argos are selling the 360 S 250GB for a cut price of £189.99, with Argos offering 3 games alongside the console for a total of £199.99. A cracking deal.
