The “Superbowl of Professional Wrestling” is soon upon us – Wrestlemania 28! It takes place on April 1st and WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) has announced that the biggest and most star-studded show of its action-packed calendar will be streaming exclusively on iPhone and iPad!
Things have become a lot more high-tech since the 80s and the days of Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior are mere memories. Today’s superstars of wrestling cross over into the digital domain to continue their feuds and storylines and social-savvy superstars The Rock and John Cena will go head-to-head on the big night for Wrestlemania which happens just once a year. In other action, infamous tweeter CM Punk will also appear to defend his WWE Championship against Chris Jericho in an event which will span not only “Sports Entertainment” but also the social community online. A market which the match-making company WWE is a pioneer of.
All this action will come live to Apple’s gadgets with US (and hopefully Worldwide) pre-orders launching soon through the official website WWE.com, where there is currently info on all the ways you can watch the show as well as a detailed FAQ section to read before committing to buy Wrestlemania or any of the future streaming wrestling events on iPhone and iPad.
It’s yet another trend-setting tech-based move by the WWE, which was last year awarded the Mashables prize for “Digital Company of the Year” for its contributions to social and computing content online, as well as being recognised for its successful range of video games.
And as you may well have noticed, some of your Gadget Helpline writers refuse to grow up, and are well into this kind of stuff, so will slip a mention into the blog whenever possible!
