UK network Three & LiveWire Mobile reboot Game Store

UK network Three has teamed up with mobile personalization co. Livewire to reboot and relaunch its Game Store – which up until now delivered “casual” gaming to Android handsets through browser software.

The new look, new style Game Store mainly addresses the ever-growing social market, and in response to the changing times for lightweight gaming and a need to appeal to every gamer brings social media integration to the service. Teaming with Livewire was a logical part of the evolution for Three’s gaming experience.

“The objective of the Games Store is to make it a must-go-to destination for all gamers on Three – providing a huge range of games, tips, information, reviews and contact with like-minded games fans. The site is designed to attract everyone from casual gamers to the hardcore enthusiasts.” Say Livewire.

Neil Andrews, Head of Media at Three also speaks of the partnership “Livewire Mobile was selected to run the new Games Store because of its proven track record of user experience design and the successful retailing of mobile entertainment products for Three and other operators around the world.”

Sharing achievements and competitive gaming will be heavily promoted on the new Game Store and the service will continue as browser-based until a dedicated Android app drops shortly after the refreshed store debuts and is touted for “pre-Christmas” in a Livewire press release.

[spoiler]Relaunch for Three Games Store
Innovation powered by Livewire Mobile
August 17, 2011 London and Littleton, Mass.
Leading UK Mobile Network Operator, Three, has re-launched its Games Store with a string of highly innovative features including social media integration and a dedicated HD games section.

The browser-based portal store, powered by Three’s content partner Livewire Mobile, Inc. also includes a series of Android games and applications targeted at the increasing numbers of Three gamers that use the portal as their mobile gaming hub.

A dedicated Android app with integrated Three billing is planned to be released ready for devices that will be in store and available for the pre-Christmas period.

It’s also planned for the re-launched Game Store to feature an extensive offering of social games, allowing users to interact and compete with each other. These features, alongside an integrated web and browser store, are designed to offer users a unique retail experience.

The UK-based team at Livewire Mobile has been working with Three UK on a number of content projects since it launched a personalisation site on the network in 2007. The new Games Store will be added to the growing portfolio of hosted multi-content services managed by the Livewire Mobile team.

Last year, Three partnered with Livewire Mobile to launch the network’s successful new Music Store on its mobile portal, featuring a dedicated site for Android users. All of the new sites developed by Livewire Mobile for Three have full Facebook and Twitter integration to drive the use of social media as a recommendation tool.

The re-launched Games Store will support content across a number of mobile phone operating systems.

The objective of the Games Store is to make it a must-go-to destination for all gamers on Three – providing a huge range of games, tips, information, reviews and contact with like-minded games fans. The site is designed to attract everyone from casual gamers to the hardcore enthusiasts.

Neil Andrews, Head of Media Sales and Content Services at Three UK, said: “Livewire Mobile was selected to run the new Games Store because of its proven track record of user experience design and the successful retailing of mobile entertainment products for Three and other operators around the world.”

“This is an area that continues to grow in popularity and with the biggest 3G network in the UK – and one designed for the high speed mobile internet – we believe our customers now have access to the very best mobile Games Store in the UK wherever they are.”

Dave Moreau, Chief Operating Officer of Livewire Mobile, said: “Three conducted a rigorous selection process before naming us as the new Games Store provider. We are absolutely delighted to once again broaden our relationship with one of our most innovative partners globally.”

“I believe that together we can drive further growth in the games area of the portal and continue to innovate to deliver a top quality service to Three’s customers.”

“Three gives its customers one of the best mobile entertainment experiences and we’re proud to be part of that success story,” said Moreau.
