At the GadgetHelpline we like Bluetooth technology, now this isn’t just because we are one of the UK’s leading authorities on Bluetooth usage and compatibility, but because we hate wires. Bluetooth technology has been around since 1999, and barring the strange name (Bluetooth is named after the Danish king Harald “Bluetooth” Blaatand who unified Denmark and Norway and as Bluetooth was aimed at unifying the telecom and computing industries the name stuck) Bluetooth is now one of the widest used (and underused) technologies in Europe.
So we have compiled a list of our top 5 Bluetooth devices now available
Aliph Jawbone prime – Bluetooth headset
Possibly the most stylish headset on the market, the Jawbone prime is the latest in Aliph’s Jawbone line and has excellent noise-cancellation technology, audio quality and comfort. It is also one of our the most Stable Bluetooth device available on the market. The only downside is the pretty hefty £90 price tag but with a range of 7 colours it’s surely worth the price.
Sony Ericsson MS500 – Portable Bluetooth Speaker
The Sony Ericsson MS500 portable speakers are designed to be knocked about, with a hardened splash resistant shell and a handy hook lanyard that makes it easy to be attached to anything you can find its the most resistant portable speaker around. It’s got full A2DP and a great clear sound and is ideal for putting in your bag and producing it when you fancy a tune. The Sony Ericsson MS500 do have a few shortcomings however as the volume levels could be louder and the unit requires 2 AA batteries, but for sheer versatility its a winner in our books.
Jabra CRUISER visor – Bluetooth car kit
Bluetooth headsets are great if you’re always on the move but for the casual user who doesn’t want to break the law a Bluetooth Car Kit is a better fit. So step forward the Jabra SP710 Cruiser Visor, a Sun visor clip on kit that has 2 in-built microphones for noise cancellation and better audio quality plus an FM Transmitter, A2DP and AVRCP, which allow you to stream and control stereo music from your phone to the speaker. But as with all sun visor car kits though you either love them or hate them.
BlueAnt V1 - Bluetooth headset
The BlueAnt V1 has been out about for a while now, but an excellent all-round headset he that was the world’s first voice-controlled headset. It does not require voice recognition training and is easy to comprehend and use. And together with excellent audio quality and top-notch noise cancelling and voice-isolation technologies it’s a bit of a winner in our books. It’s not the best looking headset by far but who cares about looks huh?
Sony Ericsson’s MBW-150 – Bluetooth Watch
Whether it’s at a meeting or a wedding, sneaking a look at your phone to see what calls or texts you’ve missed is not the best for appearances, But we’re all guilty of it at one time or another. The Sony Ericsson’s MBW-150 Bluetooth watch can solve these issues by disguising your looks as a simple watch look.
Inside the Classically stylish watch is a Bluetooth chip that once paired with your phone will enable you to see incoming calls, missed calls, received messages and will even be able to reject an incoming call from your wrist. But the MBW-150 really comes into its own as a way to control your phone’s music collection, It allows you to see the track is playing as well as can pause, skip or change the volume.
