Since a netbook uses a lower performance CPU it means that less power is needed to drive the CPU and so the battery life is extended. Nokia today launched the N900 a Linux based smartphone which offers a PC-like experience on a handset-sized device. The 800×480 3.5″ touch screen device runs the new Maemo 5 software (which is based on Linux) and also includes a slide out QWERTY keyboard as well as built-in 3G and GPS.

Palm Pre to be Available Exclusively to O2 in the UK
O2 has won the exclusive rights to sell the Palm Pre in the UK. The Palm Pre, a multimedia smartphone that is seen as a rival to Apple’s iPhone, was announced in January of this year and went on sale in the USA recently. According to O2 the Palm Pre will be available in the UK in time for the winter holidays.
