Steve Ballmer’s Microsoft Leadership Once Again Criticised by Forbes

[tab name=’News’]

Steve Ballmer has once again been slammed by the press as being an unfit to lead Microsoft into a bold new future – starting with Windows 8 which is set to arrive later in the year.

The outspoken and often outrageous CEO of one of the world’s largest computing and software companies has appeared at a number of the top tech shows in the past two years hyping up the latest refresh of the leading operating system, which for the first time will serve the dual-purpose of desktop computing as well as being optimised, for as Ballmer refers to them – “slates” (or tablets).

Today it’s news source Forbes putting the Microsoft man under the spotlight once again. And yes, Ballmer’s approach is without a doubt unconventional for a spokesperson and tech industry leader who a year ago was referred to by some of Microsoft’s top investors as “out of touch”. Somewhat harshly the writer for Forbes suggests Ballmer has “singlehandedly steered Microsoft out of some of the fastest growing and most lucrative tech markets” adding “The reach of his bad leadership has extended far beyond Microsoft when it comes to destroying shareholder value and jobs” – also claiming the CEO has damaged the profits of a number of other companies, through shoddy leadership of his own.

Despite being a source of entertainment, excitedly busting a move and creating some incredibly amusing moments throughout his career as the “out-there” and eccentric front-man for Microsoft, it can be seen at times that he might not entirely know what he’s talking about, once referring to a Microsoft product launch as a “bunch of new devices”.

However, this is also the man who eloquently referred to the then newly announced Windows Phone 7 platform as a “mobile ecosystem” and who seemed very capable of selling the concept to the masses with successful devices such as the Nokia Lumia range of smartphones.

Check out the video below to see one of Steve’s finest moments and also take note of one of the top comments on the video – “Thats it. I’m buying a windows PC, this guy’s a beast”.  No matter what high profile newsy reports on the subject, to the consumer this guy is the Gene Simmons of the computing world and we’ve never seen KISS losing out on any dollars.
