Yesterday millions of Playstation Network users had to go without using their console for over 24 hours due to an unforeseen bug which resulted in the PS3 thinking that 2010 was a leapyear.
As February the 28th turned into to the 1st of March many PS3 users were experiencing issues with the “Trophies not Syncing” and the PSN network not being available, then once the console was then turned off then back on again the PSN was no longer available.
The error only occurred with the older “fat” PS3 console (the newer ones were bug free) when the console connected to the internet and the dates synced up wrong, with the PS3 thinking it was the 29th and the internet telling the console the correct date.
This also resulted in most restarted consoles having its date reset back to 01/01/2000, all thanks to a little programming glitch.
Sony claimed to be looking into it as soon as yesterday morning and within 24hrs the Sony Playstation team has delivered on that promise, with an announcement this morning that the date glitch has now been rectified and all consoles can now connect to the PSN.
Game on people….. you now have 24 hrs of gaming to catch up on.
