Sony teased us by giving us a quick glimpse at this camcorder back in May when they announced the ultra slim NEX-5 DSLR camera. Now you will be pleased to know that it has been made official, so expect to see this camcorder beauty in an electrical shop near you fairly soon.
So apart from the fact you can remove the lenses on this camcorder, the NEX-VG10E features a 14.2 megapixel APS CMOS sensor which can shoot high definition at 1080i using the AVCHD format. It also has a 3-inch LCD viewfinder and the storage format is either Sony’s Memory Stick Pro Duo or SD card.
When the NEX-VG10E is released Sony will supply the camcorder with an 18-200mm lens with the “E” mount connection, as used on the NEX-5 camera, there will also be a selection of lenses available to purchase separately to ensure you get that shot you need. However if you own a Sony Alpha DLSR, Sony have confirmed that it will also make available an adaptor which will allow you to use your “A” mount lenses with the camcorder as well.
The NEX-VG10E should start to hit shops around September time, unfortunately as of yet there is no confirmation of how much this will set you back, although Sony do claim this is a consumer level camcorder, so hopefully you won’t have to re-mortgage your house to buy yourself one.
