Samsung Galaxy Tab Range to Get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update this August

After first stepping out hand-in-hand with Google and Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus back in October 2011, the latest Android update to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been enjoying a steady roll out onto mobile devices and covers much of the Korean-made Galaxy range including Samsung Galaxy SII and newly launched top-selling smartphone of 2012 the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

The new Android operating software is also optimised for a dual-role on tablets, replacing the short-lived Honeycomb which has done its duty as a stepping stone to get the popular platform onto slates.

With this in mind, Samsung has finally announced that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be gracing its tablet Galaxy range of tablets beginning in August.

Gadgets including the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and its following line-up of decrementally dimensioned devices, the Galaxy Tab 8.9, 7.7 and 7.0, will receive upgrades to the battery performance and speed. The now familiar to many features such as drag and drop folder management and ability to shutdown background running applications as well as access to software tools from the lock screen and built-in photo editing will also be added.

Updaters can also look forward to improvements in stability and camera performance as well as smoother screen rotation when the Android ICS update starts arriving on the Samsung Galaxy Tab family in just over a month’s time.
