Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of talk centring on a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone, believed to be called the A7. To this point, information about the rumoured device has been sparse with people speculating over its specification; some believe the smartphone to feature a smaller screen with 720p HD resolution, however the latest bit of info to surface suggests something else.
According to the folk over at Galaxy Club NL, they’ve managed to get hold of what is alleged to be a User Agent Profile of the yet unofficial A7. This little bit of text sheds quite a bit of light on what the smartphone will feature, and according to the UAP it’ll in-fact have a 1920×1080 screen and not the 720p as previously thought. The 5.5” diagonal screen will feature 400ppi pixel density which is an increase on the Galaxy Alpha’s 312ppi.
As well as confirming the screen size, the UAP also reveals that the A7 will also feature a 64-bit processor (ARMv8-A instruction set) and will be clocked at 1.5GHz. It seems to becoming more apparent that Samsung’s intentions are that all of the “A” series handset will feature a 64-bit processor of some description – even the entry level model, the A3 is thought to have the Snapdragon 410 chipset (either a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor at 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz according to another User Agent profile).
Although we have managed to grasp a bit more information about the unannounced device, there are still a few other questions that have been left unanswered with regards to the CPU it may use. It’s not yet clear as to whether the A7 will use the newer more powerful Snapdragon 61x or maybe just an overclocked 410 chipset. Also, according to the UAP it suggests that the smartphone is using Android 4.4.4, but with the release of Android 5.0 there is still the possibility that this might change will eventually be released with Android Lollipop and not KitKat.
Finally, again not concreate, but it’s thought that when it eventually hits shop shelves it will cost around the $450-$500 mark.
