Samsung C7000 3D TV the first 3D TV in the UK

Those people doing their shopping in John Lewis today may want to stop by the electronics department and check out Samsung’s first ever 3D TV offering, the UE40 C7000 and maybe if they have a few thousand pounds to spare they can invest in the first ever 3D TV to be sold commercially in the UK.

John Lewis will from now on be selling the Samsung 3D TV’s from its flagship stores across the UK and the 40 inch LCD TV has a few extra tricks up its sleeve, not least the 30mm thick LCD-backlit screen and Samsung’s own 200Mhz Motion Plus processing which reduces blur as well as the capability to display 3D content, the UE40 C7000 is a fairly decent display. It comes with a Freeview HD tuner.

The Samsung C7000 also has in built USB connectivity that allow users to hook up an external Harddrive and the recorded content, this is reportedly also going to be available for high definition content  as is the potential for 3D recording and to top it all off the C7000 TV’s also feature Internet@TV where consumers can enjoy their favourite internet content by simply connecting the TV to the internet with a cable, or with  a Wi-Fi transmitter which can be bought separately.

Through the convenient user interface and the enhanced functions and contents of Samsung Apps, users can download a wide variety of programs from over 30 different channels and enjoy the full and flexible range of entertainment on the TV screen, including Accuweather, Twitter, Skype, YouTube , Picasa and many more.

On the subject of USB memory, the 7000’s USB ports allow you to input flash drives and to play music or view photos contained on them, on the TV. You can also do this on a PC running a DLNA compatible server application on your home network. The cool thing is that the 7000 also supports video files with the Divx, XviD, MPEG2, MPEG4, 3GPP, WMV, ASF or standalone MPEG .TS extensions.

But if 3D is all you’re after then you will also need to get your hands on a something that will give you 3D playback, seeing as Sky are not launching their 3D channels until June the options are pretty  limited, but the good people at John Lewis have also seen fit to sell the Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray Disc Player , on sale for £349, but  that’s not all as users will also need to purchase additional Samsung 3D Active sunglasses for the whole setup to work which will also set you back £149 for two pairs.

However, for those happy punters going the whole hog in one credit card bashing exercise, John Lewis are also giving away two pairs of 3D Active glasses when you purchase the LCD television and the Blu-ray player at the same time, all for £2148.

If your looking to Join the Blue-Ray revolution early then get down John Lewis and part with your cash, but we at the Gadget Helpline are going to hold onto our hard earned pennies and wait 6 months to a year just so we can see how the 3D scape pans out before sinking our cash into it.
