RIM is looking to keep your business by offering you cash for your old BlackBerry handsets – that is if you’re willing to upgrade to a new BlackBerry handset.
The way the new Trade Up scheme works is that you log your existing BlackBerry phone into the online form including its model name and network carrier, answer a few basic questions about the condition of the phone, then select the new wave BlackBerry model you are thinking of upgrading to. The site will generate the price difference and will give the amount you can bag if you make the purchase and then send RIM your old handset and proof of purchase. A short time later they’ll issue you a check which should, if lucky, cut a substantial chunk out of the cost of your spanking new mobile and without the hard work of trying to hock the old handset by yourself.

RIM reckons the top dollar you can reclaim is £106 and eligible models to Trade Up from are: BlackBerry Pearl 8100, BlackBerry Pearl 8110, BlackBerry Pearl 8120, BlackBerry Pearl 9100, BlackBerry Pearl 9105, BlackBerry Curve 8220, BlackBerry Curve 8300, BlackBerry Curve 8310, BlackBerry Curve 8320, BlackBerry Curve 8520, BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry Curve 9300, BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Bold 9780, BlackBerry Bold 9790, BlackBerry Storm 9500, BlackBerry Storm 9520 and BlackBerry Torch 9800.
