When importing all of your CD’s into your iTunes it’s always a little annoying when you go to transfer your music to another media type (like your mobile phone) and the iTunes standard file will not play!
Well fear not people, we are here to help.
The MP3 format is the de facto standard of digital music file types and thus it is pretty much accepted by all media players.
So we are going to show you how to change your rip setting on iTunes to copy all CDs to your computer using the MP3 format.
Note: The following guide is using iTunes 9.
- Open iTunes.
- Click on Edit.

- Click on Preferences….
- Click on Import Settings.

- Click the Import Using dropdown.
- Click on MP3 Encoder.
- Click the Setting dropdown.
- Click on either Good Quality (128 kbps), High Quality (160 kbps) or Higher Quality (192 kbps).
The Higher the Quality the better the recording but the larger the file type will be.

- Click on Ok.
That’s it.
From now on all imported CD’s will be ripped to your computer as an MP3 file and can be used on nearly all Media playing devices.
