Nokia announce C2 and C1 dual SIM phones

Great news for businessmen and international spies (kind of)…. Nokia has announced its first ever dual SIM mobile phone, the Nokia C2 and in addition has followed up with a bargain basement Nokia C1 dual SIM handset.

Both the Nokia C1 and C2 are basic handsets which only sport Symbian S40 and lack some of the modern features you would expect from a mobile (Wi-Fi, 3G etc) and are aimed at the entry level market and budget phone lovers.

The 2 handsets are yet to have a full spec sheet released but what we do know is that  the C2 will have an FM radio, web (with Nokia’s Ovi services), a micro SD slot, Bluetooth, and a VGA camera plus a variety of pre installed OVI apps.

The C1 however, remains a relative mystery at the moment with the only announced feature being an in built torch….. so moving on with that then!

The important feature is the dual SIM capability of both handsets, teamed with the budget price tag makes the phones very accessible to budget markets and is apparent by the Nokia C1 being first released in Kenya.

The dual SIM effectively means  users will be able to receive texts and calls from 2 different numbers on one mobile device which, if the bargain handset release goes well, we could expect to see in some more advanced mobile phones which will truly arouse interest amongst the business user communities..

The Nokia C2 and C1 are expected to be launched in the 4th quarter of 2010 and more information will be coming soon.
