Mario Kart Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns added to Nintendo Selects

  • by

With a lot of recent focus on turning around its misfortunes with the Wii U you may well have thought Nintendo has forgotten all about its original game changer, the Wii. But owners of the original model should fear not, as the company is about to bolster its Nintendo Selects range with a number of top titles from recent years soon available at an appealing value price.

Mario Kart Wii is a revved up and revamped version of the long-standing racing game featuring a cast of Nintendo’s most loved characters and it builds on the success of the previous games by adding new courses and crazy new vehicles to race with. Mario Kart Wii is also compatible with the Nintendo Wii Wheel which can be bought as a separate accessory and adds miles to the fun and madness!

This popular party game is joined by Donkey Kong Country Returns, another classic remade after first swinging from the vine in 1994 on Super Nintendo (SNES). DK is joined once more by sidekick Diddy Kong as the pair seeks their lost bananas in a barrel-busting platform game.

Last but not least is PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure which puts the player in the furry footsteps of everyone’s favourite pocket monster Picachu for the very first time and includes a range of challenges involving use of the Wiimote’s diverse functions.

The idea of Nintendo Selects is so players can enjoy games they may have missed the first time around and thanks to the Wii U’s backwards compatibility these modern classics can also be enjoyed by owners of the new home console as well as its predecessor.

Nintendo re-releases these favourites on October 18th for under £20 each and with just a few months to go till Christmas we think the games in this Nintendo Selects range are ideal stocking fillers!  Check out the full list of available titles at the Nintendo Selects website.
