Netflix Arrives in the UK – Rival to LoveFilm Offers a Months Free Trial

US-based on-demand service Netflix has arrived in the United Kingdom and as a treat for newly joining film fanatics the LoveFilm-troubling movie and television subscription service is kindly providing us with a full month’s free access to a range of popular platforms.

Netflix echoes rival LoveFilm in its promise that “Now, you can enjoy as many great films and TV programmes as you want, when you want, where you want, for one low monthly price with no contracts or commitments” – with an exclusive line up of production houses on board for the launch, such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Disney, NBC, Paramount, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, MGM and Lionsgate all included on the lengthy list.

For starters, new subscribers will be able to enjoy top telly like The Inbetweeners and massive movies The Expendables and Saving Private Ryan. A number of popular titles, for example Iron Man 2, are noticeably absent, but it’s still only day one. So enjoy the free trial and hopefully some of our faves will soon be added to the already vast catalogue.

The service is also fully social, hooking you up with buddies on Facebook meaning you can find out what your friends list is watching and see their recommendation, as well as sharing your own. You’ll also be able to sign up through Facebook to enjoy the benefits of that aforementioned free trial.

Netflix is live in the UK from today and can be enjoyed for free for one month, and then £5.99 per month thereafter. It’s up for grabs on PCs, Smart TVs, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as Android and Apple iOS based smartphones and tablets.
