The result? The staggering fact that Myspace took a huge dive between January and February this year, losing 10 million unique visitors in the space of just 28 days. That 14 per cent reduction is a sign of the times, with more people than ever clearly leaving the site to sign up with the enemy.
Data from the Comscore Media Metrix table suggests that Myspace currently has around 63 million users, which is down by 50 million from February last year.
The site, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, has most recently re-branded itself as an “entertainment destination” rather than a social network, given that its most successful venture now seems to be its music sub-section – credited with launching the careers of many successful UK artists.
