MWC 2010: Nokia and Intel announce MeeGo operating system

Day one of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and fresh from the Nokia conference is news of its new MeeGo Operating System, created in partnership with Intel.

The announcement was a little light on details as videos and photos were not shown regarding the interface.  However what we now know is that the  OS is set to be a fusion of Maemo and Moblin OS systems (neither of which have been well received by the general public) and has been confirmed as a Multi-touch capable and will feature a multitasking operating system.

Nokia has already confirmed that the OS is intended for use in more than just phones as it is built to run on laptops, GPS systems and even TVs.

The first item to be released is rumoured to be a MeeGo phone, but with no details at this time it’s back to the rumour room for MeeGo untill more info is available over the coming months. So stay tuned to see how the MeeGo operating system stacks up against… well pretty much everyone.
