For those who follow our Only in Japan features, we thank both of you, and you will know that we quite often focus on technological and scientific developments from the country itself, the massive ride-in robots, mechanical Godzilla Christmas trees or butt scanning security gadgets which make the Japanese one of a kind in its contributions to consumer tech. We deviate slightly from that theme today to introduce the psychic medium who claims to have a message from the late great American tech maestro Steve Jobs..
Apple Co-Founder and former Chief Exec, Steve Jobs sadly passed from this life on October 5th 2011 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer – Leaving behind him a legacy of iPhones and iPods and iPads used the world over. Jobs actually passed away the day after the latest edition of his innovative iPhone – the 4S model – was launched in the United States, which prompted Japanese news source RocketNews24 to wonder if Steve was happy with the new gadget’s launch and the direction of the company he founded – a company which he was also so actively involved with when it came to product launches.
The reporters decided the only way to find this out would be to ask the man himself – but the man, of course, had been dead for over two months. Approaching a lady psychic at the famously spiritual Mount Osore (or Fear Mountain – the Entrance to Hell) the reporters were able to “communicate” with the deceased CEO in the after-life.
The medium suggested that it would be extremely difficult to contact “foreign” spirits, but was able to find Jobs and establish a link with him to conduct the brief post-humous interview. Speaking through the medium Jobs spoke for the first time since his passing. These are some of the quotes (translated to English from the Japanese speaking psychic):
“I wanted to be alive for at least 10 more years”
“I felt for the first time that human life is irreplaceable.”
“I also realized that life is not something that can be saved by money.”
“I knew that I could make our fans even happier, and to do this I needed at least 10 more years. Instead, I received this sad fate.”
“I wanted you all to be happy”
The medium relays Jobs’ saddest regret: “I will never again know the happiness of showing myself to the world and having the world smile back. It’s all really depressing. With ten more years, I wanted to stay devoted to the one goal I set for myself: I wanted you all to be happy.”
At the end of their supernatural meeting Steve says “I enjoyed our conversation” and that “after we die, there is nothing like a phone we can use to communicate with people”.
These messages are all the more eerie when we consider how resembling they are of Jobs and that they were delivered by the 56 year old lady psychic who has spent much of her life on the Mount Osore in Japan with little or no technology and no real knowledge of who Steve Jobs was in life.
It was nice to hear from Steve, but he was however still unable to answer the big question on every tech fan’s lips – When are we getting this bloody iPhone 5?
