Microsoft has said that its latest web browser IE9, will have a new anti-tracking feature that will allow users to stop websites they are visiting sharing information with other websites about what they are viewing.
Users will have the ability to create lists specifying what data will be shared with the website they are visiting.
Microsoft has said in a blog post that many people to not realise that when they are visiting a website, what they do on that website, whether it’s what they may buy or look at, can then be passed on to third party companies without the user’s knowledge.
The new anti-tracking tool should be available in the version of IE9 which is due for release early 2011, the feature will be disabled by default so users will have to opt-in if they wish to use it.
