HTC Ville Android Smartphone to be Just 8mm Thick – Thinnest HTC Ever

We’ve heard rumours before about a couple of HTC’s forthcoming Android smartphones, which so far we know as the ‘Ville’, the ‘Edge’ and the ‘Zeta’.

We’ve now caught a glimpse of an official render of one of those phones; the HTC Ville, and boy is it thin! The details that came with the render, obtained by PocketNow, tell us that the Ville will be just 8mm thin, making it not only the thinnest HTC ever, but also thinner than the iPhone 4S and Galaxy S II.

The leaked render (above) shows a very nice design, featuring smoothed edges and rounded corners, which should make this droid a joy to hold. The back of the handset features a large brushed metal battery cover panel, wide-angled camera lens with LED flash and the familiar soft-touch rubber at the top and bottom, just like with the Desire S.

The front view of the handset tells us that the Ville will feature a front facing camera, silver speaker grille and a large touchscreen – most likely 4.3-inches – which is surrounded by a glossy black bezel.

It’s a pretty attractive design we think you’ll agree, and a design that nicely matches the specifications we’ve heard the Ville has. Earlier this month we reported that the Ville will pack a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.5GHz processor under the hood.

We’re expecting HTC to officially unveil this gorgeous smartphone at the Mobile World Conference next February in Barcelona. With Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out just now, by that time we would be expecting this device to be running it as standard. However, the render shows us that the Ville sports the same 4 touch buttons beneath the screen as you would expect to find on a device running Android Gingerbread (Android 4.0 devices use 3 onscreen touch buttons).

With HTC confirming that their Sensation range will be getting the upgrade to ICS, we’re confident that the Ville won’t have long to wait to get its taste of Android 4.0.
