A “news” site which reports alien takeovers of Earth and Mike Tyson’s pigeon fetish has pranked the socially addicted internet community into believing that Facebook would be pulled on March 15th 2012 and that all data, photos and conversation will be deleted – Heralding the end of the world as we know it!

After Weekly World News reported that Mark Zuckerberg himself had announced Facebook’s impending demise, web-users spread the nonsense news like a wild fire and the legions of lifeless passed the information onto their friends list who since passed it onto theirs and so on and so forth – casting a shadow of foreboding and dread over the social network.

The report originating from WWN claims that the Zuck found “managing the site has become too stressful” and his creation has “gotten out of control”. The ruse went onto “quote” the young social mogul as saying the “stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Further playing on the naïve networker’s obsession with online life, the fake Zuckerberg said “To be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

The story quotes others “inside” the social web and the statement ends “The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th, 2012. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.”
