PC gamers are up in arms about the recent announcement that the new revamped version of the smash hit GTA V by Rockstar won’t be coming to the PC until 2015, months after the November 18th release planned for next gen console versions.
It seems that Rockstar has finally taken notice of the outcry, publishing a statement recently on why the ultra high end version of 2014’s biggest game won’t be on PC just yet.

“We are incredibly excited to be bringing GTA V to the PC, but the game requires a little more development time in order to ensure that it is as amazing and polished as possible,” Rockstar said on their newswire website “Please do stay tuned as we reveal new features and information about all the new versions in the weeks ahead.”
That’s it from Rockstar on the matter for now, here’s our take on why this could be the case.
PC versions of the game require a lot more compatibility tweaking than the versions that go out to each console. Any given gaming PC, from a mid range workhorse to a high end monster rig, all may include a massive range of components, all from different manufacturers.
Whilst GTA V was built and programmed on a PC, final versions are either going to come out on Xbox One or PS4, two consoles with exact specifications for internal components. No extra compatibility is needed beyond the set of hardware that comes in the consoles, so this may explain why the PC version needs extra time in development.

Additionally, quality control across multiple devices and configurations takes a lot more time, especially narrowing down which devices have issues, such as different graphics cards, and then making sure the game works on them and the device specific errors are ironed out. There’s also different versions of windows to consider, the difference between Windows 7 and 8 may cause issues with the game.
