Google to launch a new Android Nexus Smartphone in the “next 30 days”

With Google launching its first ever Android tablet a few months back to very positive feedback it is looking like the company is rumoured to launch up to 5 new versions of the Nexus branded Android products in the next year to celebrate the Google Android OS’s 5th birthday.

New rumours are claiming that Google could be unveiling a new flagship smartphone along with an iterative Android version sometime in the “next 30 days.”

The news is coming from three separate “industry sources” who have each confirmed the same thing, which is that Google will be unveiling a new Google Nexus Android smartphone in October. Exacly what the phone could be is a mystery, but the sources have also stated that the actual hardware for the device has “already leaked”, which could mean that the rumours of HTC making a 5 inch smartphone could point to this being the new Nexus device.

In the past Google has used ASUS and Samsung to make its branded devices, but the company also produced the first ever flagship Android smartphone and the first Nexus device with HTC as the hardware manufacturer, so the companies already have a good device history.

With Android’s 5th birthday we may also see a small Android Jelly Bean OS update which may bring new features, but the change will still be classed as Jelly Bean before the next OS versions (expected to be called Key Lime Pie) is released next year.

Additionally, Google’s last Nexus branded smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, was released over a year ago, so there is space for a more high-specced Google flagship device to come.

Now as per usual this is all to be taken with a pinch of salt, but Google is well known to build a product and bring it out very fast to market with little build up – so expect a surprise!
