Apple stops selling the Mac Pro desktop in the EU

  • by

Apple has removed its Mac Pro from sale across the EU as it previously promised it would do, slightly ahead of schedule.

Due to a new safety ruling in the EU Apple either had to change its Mac Pro or stop selling it, and for one reason or another, the Cupertino tech company decided to cease sales.

The deadline was March 1st to stop selling the product and it seems that Apple has sorted things out early, with the Mac Pro now listed as ‘Currently unavailable’ on the Apple Store online.

We had a feeling the Mac Pro was reaching the end of its lifespan after not receiving an annual upgrade for a couple of years running, but now it would seem that an EU safety ruling has put paid to the tower Mac here in Europe.

Whether Apple will redesign a new model to comply with the new standards remains to be seen, but for the meantime the Mac Pro is not an option if you’re based within the EU. Apple will continue to sell the iMac, MacBook Air, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro as normal.

If you really, really want to get your hands on a Mac Pro, your best bet is to get in contact with an Apple reseller, and quickly.
